Research

Several archives hold material related to the composer’s life and works. The British Library’s collection includes:

  • Original scores, sometimes in several versions, of works from the first half of the composer’s career
  • Libretti
  • Notebooks from Naresh’s time as a copyist at Boosey & Hawkes;
  • The draft of a book on notation
  • The scores of film songs, ghazals and music for TV
  • Scores of unpublished work and sketches

 

Huddersfield University Archives hold:

  • Copies of some scores
  • Concert programmes and leaflets
  • Reviews
  • Magazine and newspaper articles
  • Correspondence from throughout the composer’s career
  • Material related to his participation in overseas events
  • Documents relating to the award of his Padma Shri
